An in-depth analysis of the reasons why roller complementarity improves filling accuracy

Due to the pulsation phenomenon of peristaltic pump, repeatability accuracy has always been a problem in the industry when filling with peristaltic pump, the current more common solution is roller complementation, two tubes at the outlet to achieve the purpose of improving accuracy, the principle of this method is that the complementary roller will also make the pulsating curve complement, so as to obtain a smooth water flow, filling accuracy has been improved.

But this is just our wishful thinking, in fact, this is not the case, my company has done experiments, the same inner diameter of the tube, there is no difference of data range between single roller filling volume and roller complementary filling volume, this is because the data range of filling volume is decided by the size of the roller diameter, tube diameter, and the arc structure, but the number of rollers has nothing to do with it, the same structure of the pump head and tube, whether the roller number is 4 or 8, will not affect the final filling volume range, it will only affect the unit size, that is, the size of a liquid between the roller and the roller, the number of rollers affects the frequency of pulsation, will not change the amplitude of pulsation, the amplitude of pulsation is reflected in the form of the range of filling volume.

But some people will ask, then why in practical applications, this complementary form of rollers really improves our filling accuracy? Yes, customers who have used roller complementary solutions will indeed feel this way, because when we get a URS, what we consider is based on meeting customer requirements, such as customer requirements to fill 5mL of liquid in 0.6 seconds, accuracy requirements ±1%, that is, equivalent to peristaltic pumps need to have a flow rate of 500mL/min, with the flow we began to choose the tube, found that this flow needs to choose 25# tube to meet the speed requirements, but the accuracy of the 25# single tube cannot meet the customer's requirements, So we switched to a roller complementary solution, the roller complementary equivalent to the double pump head in series, so when the two tubes are transmitted at the same time, the flow is doubled, so we can use a small model of tube on it, so we switched to the 16# tube, complementary scheme, at this time we will find that the accuracy is indeed improved, the customer's requirements will be solved, but our careful analysis will find that the improvement of the accuracy of this scheme is not brought by the complementary rollers, It's because we switched the tube from 25# to 16#, which has a smaller inside diameter.

It is well known that on the same pump head, the smaller the inner diameter of the tube, the higher the accuracy, and vice versa, the worse the accuracy. In this case, we changed the tube from 25# to 16#, the accuracy itself will be improved, careful customers will find that if we only switch to complementary solutions, but do not change the tube model, the accuracy is still difficult to improve, on the contrary, even if we do not use complementary pump heads, as long as the tube is changed to 16#, the accuracy will be improved.

Therefore, the improvement of the accuracy of the roller complementary scheme is that the inner diameter of the tube has become smaller, not the effect of the complementary roller, but in any case, through this dual-channel complementary method, it is indeed possible to use a smaller tube, and also solves the problem of accuracy within a certain range, but this scheme can not fundamentally solve the problem of pulsation and accuracy, and the pipeline is more complex, not all applications can accept dual-channel parallel.

Therefore, the pulsation phenomenon of peristaltic pump to be fundamentally solved, requires strong technical reserves and a large number of experiments and research, at present, the company has a set of new technologies that can greatly reduce the pulsation of peristaltic pumps, and is currently in full research and development, so stay tuned!
